June 1, 1994 marks the start of the devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Holy Name of Jesus Church.  It was first introduced by a number of Filipino families belonging to the parish  (Ref.: Pastor’s letter of 16 May, 1994 attached).  We witness how the devotion has branched out and how faith, when it is strong, unites diverse people from different cultures and walks of life.  Following the Wednesday afternoon Mass, parishioners and guests stay for the novena, which is led by a lay volunteer.  Some drop their petitions in the confidential Petition Box that is customarily prayed-over every first Wednesday of the month by the congregation present. Others drop their thanksgiving notes. In addition to this, there is a Saturday morning devotion to meditate on the Rosary and sing songs of praises to Our Lady.

VISION

We, the devotees to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, envision the need to carry-out the Blessed Mother’s role in the Church, making her virtues and examples known and be a living witnesses and instruments of Christ’s love and saving mission.

MISSION

  • We shall accomplish our vision through our prayers and devotion to our Lady;

  • Working out our personal sanctification and be a role model in our community.  One should have knowledge of self, the Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ (we cannot give what we don’t have).

  • Promoting and spreading a true and sincere devotion to our Blessed Mother, through the Wednesday Novena, Saturday Rosary Devotion, Cenacles (Youth, Family, Religious/Priests as a consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of Jesus), and pilgrimages.

  • We foster love of service to our Church and our neighbor by prayers and actions.

  • Have an active participation in the support of our Church by sharing our talents, time and resources as volunteers, lector, ministers, novena leaders, ushers, choir singers, musicians, etc.

  • By doing acts of mercy to the needy (poor, sick and hungry);

  • We forge among us a Christian community by evangelization;

  • Through the cenacles of prayers with the youth, family and others

  • Through our good examples (good works and simple ways)

  • We keep up with our rich Catholic heritage with its idealization of family and moral values.

We are a group of simple people who are committed in taking part in the upliftment of the spiritual role in our Parish through our active participation in the Liturgy and in carrying out the devotion to our Blessed Mother and her Son, our model. The novena, rosary and our togetherness signify the symbol of God’s love. Likewise, our prayers and the services that we share with our neighbors – our family and community, give us a sense of experiencing the presence of God among us.

We are composed of coordinators, volunteers, promoters and devotees touched and moved by the Holy Spirit as family - the Church

Volunteers/Promoters/Devotees either act as ushers, eucharistic ministers, lectors, novena/rosary leaders, or do copies of leaflets and booklets; provide candles and flowers; escort the Blessed Virgin Mary’s statue for the Cenacles with family and youth, set up the Image/altar for the Wednesday novena, provide music and participates in the choir, visit and bring communion to the sick, promote daily recitation of the rosary, and attend the Wednesday novena, etc. Everyone is welcome.
